In a significant development for Niger’s parliamentary landscape, Mr. IDI Gado Boubacar, the Secretary General of the African Parliamentary Union (UPA), revealed that Niger has been chosen as the host country for the upcoming 45th PAU conference session and the 80th session of its executive committee.
The announcement was made following a meeting between Mr. Boubacar and Seini Oumarou, President of the National Assembly. Mr. Boubacar expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and support from President Oumarou, emphasizing the importance of Niger’s participation in the UPA and its commitment to parliamentary diplomacy.
The UPA Secretary General further highlighted that his visit to Niamey was dedicated to the meticulous planning and coordination of these highly anticipated sessions with the Nigerien parliament. The preparations for the conference and executive committee session have already begun, with Niger’s parliament actively involved in organizing the events, demonstrating their dedication to hosting this esteemed gathering of African parliamentary representatives.
Mr. Boubacar underscored the honor bestowed upon Niger by hosting the 45th PAU conference, scheduled to take place in November 2023.
